Dear Colleagues,
Another year has gone by. It has been a pleasure working with you all in 2011. One of the greatest joys of this season is the opportunity to say THANK YOU and wish you the very best for the New Year. What did the year 2011 bring us? First of all, it is the joy of communicating with the authors and readers of our journal. We are indebted to the Editorial Board members and to a broad base of external reviewers, who have supported this journal through the past year. It was a challenging year for IJBM. However, we have been gaining experience and overcoming the difficulties inherent to any large and serious undertaking. We recognize the tremendous responsibility before us. We have made every effort to make our journal honest, open, and accessible, keeping in mind clear goals and objectives. Of course, much remains to be done to make our journal brighter, smarter, more informative and better for you. We are now in the process of renewing our Editorial Board, and we are pleased to welcome the new members to our International Editorial Board.
Dear Colleagues, thank you very much for your confidence! We are keenly interested in analyzing your feedback, comments and suggestions. Stay in touch with us, write and inform us about how helpful you find the journal. Please do tell us if you like the materials, we publish. Also, please indicate our mistakes and shortcomings, feel free to criticize us and do make suggestions regarding topics relevant to your daily practice. The quality of this journal depends much upon the excellence of the articles submitted. We look for 'the best' in original research devoted to understanding disease mechanisms. We welcome original reports on important disease-related experimental models and major technical advances of broad impact to research into disease pathogenesis. We welcome suggestions for critical reviews or reports. Although this year we have focused our attention primarily on cardiology, the journal has also covered a variety of topics relating to different fields - rheumatology, oncology, endocrinology, neurology, basic biomedical sciences besides other fields. We are united by our common interest in Biology and Medicine, and while we recognize every scientist has his own niche of research, we acknowledge each of us makes a significant contribution to the cause. We sincerely wish you success in the new endeavors and discoveries you make. We would encourage you, dear colleagues, to follow the rule of the great geneticist, the world renowned James Watson, who said: “I think scientifically. I have had a very charmed life. My rule was, you know, just go to a place where there are a lot of bright people, and try and surround yourself with bright people and they will keep you alive”.
